The Old Town of Albufeira is a pretty village, with narrow twisting lanes of whitewashed houses, crisscrossing the high cliffs above a beautiful spread of beaches. There is a Moorish feel to parts of the central Albufeira as well as the more tangible remnants of a Moorish castle – the original Arabic name of the town, Al-Buhera means “Castle on the Sea”.
Albufeira has restaurants to match every budget. As well as traditional Portuguese restaurants there’s a whole range of types and styles to cater for every taste. There is also a wide choice of bars and plenty of nightlife to keep you entertained until the small hours.
